SIT including Vijay Vishwas Pant probes Ayodhya Ram temple donations
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is looking into claims that donations at Ayodhya's Ram Temple may have been embezzled.
The three-member team, Lucknow divisional commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, spent nearly eight hours on Monday checking the temple's cash-counting room, vault and register, and reviewed records of staff handling cash since the temple opened in January 2024 (on January 23, 2024).
They also collected CCTV footage.
SIT investigators probe staff wage disparities
The SIT will share its first findings in a week and a final report within 15 days.
Investigators are also checking if there are wage gaps or suspicious links between staff and Trust members (turns out some Trust workers earn ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 per month while outsourced staff get ₹28,000).
The Trust says it's fully cooperating because, as Ram temple construction committee chairman Nripendra Misra puts it, Action on both fronts will strengthen the faith of devotees.
The issue came up after allegations that donations at the temple may have been embezzled.
