South Delhi: Congress worker murdered over 2016 property dispute

India

In a shocking turn in South Delhi, 56-year-old Congress worker and property dealer Lakhpat Singh Kataria was murdered during his morning walk at Vijay Mandal Park on Friday.
He was chased down, beaten with a cricket bat, and shot by Khushi Ram and his teenage son.
The motive? A long-running property dispute dating back to 2016, when Ram was allegedly assaulted by Kataria.

Father-son duo plotted revenge killing

Ram had reportedly been bedridden for months after the earlier dispute and decided to get revenge.
He sent his son to track Kataria's daily routine before they struck together—using a motorcycle without a number plate and covering their faces.
Police pieced together what happened by analyzing over 650 CCTV cameras and call records, eventually recovering the murder weapon.
Both suspects are now in custody as investigators look into whether others were involved in this pre-planned homicide rooted in a bitter feud.
