Sri Lankan national lands on Indian voters' list, sparks probe

India

A Sri Lankan woman, Letchumanan Mary Franciska, ended up on India's voters' list—even though she's in custody for allegedly funding the LTTE and overstaying after arriving in 2019.
She reportedly managed to get an Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter ID, and even an Indian passport using fake documents.
Now, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has flagged her case to Tamil Nadu's election officials.

How did this happen?

Franciska was caught at the airport while trying to travel to Bengaluru with a fake passport.
Investigators say she sent money to the LTTE and tried to withdraw over ₹42 crore from a Mumbai bank by pretending to be a legal heir.
The ED wants her voter ID canceled and is asking if she ever actually voted.
