State government considers delivering registered property deeds to owners' homes
The State government is thinking about making life easier for property owners by sending registered deeds directly to their homes through secure postal services.
Right now, you have to rush to the sub-registrar's office within 24 hours after all the legal and biometric steps, but this new plan could save everyone a trip, and some stress.
Deed delivery raises security, verification concerns
Inspired by how passports are delivered, the idea is to use tamper-proof and waterproof packaging for safe transit.
But there are real concerns: lost documents could mean identity theft or fraud, and verifying addresses, especially for NRIs or buyers from other states, is tricky.
The government still needs to sort out who's responsible if something goes missing, plus figure out if sub-registrars' offices can handle all the extra work before any pilot launch happens.
