Sufficient energy reserves assure stability: Hardeep Puri

India's Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri wants everyone to know: even with the Middle East conflict, India has enough energy reserves to keep things running for several weeks.
He pointed out that we're not just relying on one region for our fuel anymore.

TL;DR

Global oil supply is steady, says Puri

India uses oil at three times the global average—thanks to fast economic growth—and most of it is imported.
But there's no need to panic, according to Puri.
Global oil supply is steady, with countries like the US ramping up production. Plus, India now gets oil from places like the US, Canada, Brazil, and Guyana—not just the Middle East.

India stores emergency oil in underground reserves

To avoid surprises from global crises or disasters, India stores emergency oil in underground reserves (called SPRs) across Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
These act as a safety net if imports ever get disrupted.
More storage sites are also being built in Odisha and Karnataka to boost our backup even further.
