Kolkata: Suspicious bag found near RG Kar, area cordoned off
A suspicious bag was found near RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on Thursday. The bag was discovered at the empty protest site of junior doctors who have been protesting over the alleged rape and murder of a 31-year-old colleague. Authorities promptly responded by deploying a bomb disposal squad and a dog squad to investigate the situation. Further details are awaited.
Ongoing protests intensify amid bomb scare
Since August, healthcare professionals have been demanding justice for their colleague who was allegedly raped and murdered. Her body was found at the same medical college on August 9. The junior doctors have continued their sit-in outside the West Bengal Health Department's office and have also initiated a "cease work" action in response to this incident.

Doctors' demands and government's response
The protesting doctors are not only seeking justice for their colleague but also demanding enhanced security measures for female health professionals. They have called for the suspension of several officials, including the Kolkata Police Commissioner and state health secretary. To address these concerns, the state government invited the doctors to a meeting on Wednesday. However, the meeting didn't take place due to the doctors' preconditions for talks, which included the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and a live broadcast.
