Tamil Nadu unveils Vision 2031 aiming for 50% renewables

Tamil Nadu just rolled out "Vision 2031," aiming for 50% of its energy mix to come from renewable sources by 2031.
The plan includes adding 20,000 EV charging stations, boosting rooftop solar adoption, and cutting power losses to just 10%.
As of April this year, the state already had 5.50 lakh registered electric vehicles and 2,425 charging stations.
TN strengthens grid, installs smart meters
The government is also working on building new substations, upgrading transformers for better power distribution, and adding battery storage to help manage green energy.
Smart meters are being installed in government buildings across seven districts to make billing more accurate and reduce errors and billing disputes.
