    Violence in Rajasthan's Sikar after bus hits biker

    What's the story

    Tension erupted in Rajasthan's Sikar after a bus, reportedly of the roadways department, hit a bike and critically injured the rider.

    Rumors soon spread that the bus driver was drunk.

    Angry residents then gathered, damaged the bus, set some other vehicles on fire and went on a rampage.

    Police had to save the driver from the mob.

    Policemen injured in violence, 50 taken into custody

    The violence broke out after a bike rider was injured after being hit by a bus. About half a dozen persons, including two policemen, were injured.

    Police had to resort to lathicharge and tear gas.

    The rampage lasted for about two hours.

    Around 50 people have been taken into custody. A case has been filed against the bus driver and the vandals.
