The Indian Railways is the world's 8th largest employer, and employs over 1.4 million people. With a 127,760km long network - the third largest in the world - the Indian Railways comes with its own set of oddities in this vast, diverse country. Among them are two stations which lie in between different states - Navapur and Bhawani Mandi. Here's more about them.

The Navapur railway station is well-connected to Maharashtrian, Gujarati cities

Navapur, a Nagar Panchayat (municipality) in the state of Maharashtra has a railway station that doesn't belong to it exclusively. Half of the Navapur railway station is located in Maharashtra, and the other half in Gujarat. Owing to its dual allegiance, state transport buses of both the Maharashtra government and the Gujarat government are available from the station to many cities in both states.

Bhawani Mandi is shared between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh

Meanwhile, Bhawani Mandi is a city and a municipality in the state of Rajasthan. The Bhawani Mandi railway station, established in 1911, like Navapur, is shared between two states - Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The northern part of the station is in the Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh, meanwhile the southern part is in the Jhalawar district of Rajasthan.
