Thousands protest UGC equity norms and call for reservation changes
On Friday, thousands gathered at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to protest the UGC's equity norms and push for changes to the caste-based reservation system.
Led by NEET aspirant Harsh Dubey and organized by Reservation Reform Andolan, many from upper-caste communities called for reservations based on economic status instead of caste.
Jantar Mantar protesters refuse move
Protesters say they will stay until they can submit a memorandum to Narendra Modi.
Influencers like Ajeet Bharti showed up in support, along with groups such as General Sena and Karni Sena.
Even after being asked to move to Ramlila Maidan due to police permissions, they insisted on staying at Jantar Mantar.
Protesters emphasized that the protest is peaceful and part of ongoing calls across India for reservation reforms and review of related laws.
