Three Maoists killed in Andhra Pradesh police encounter
Three Maoist rebels, including a key Central Committee member, were killed during a police operation in the Maredumilli forests of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday morning.
The incident happened as police combed the area for rebel activity, and those killed have been identified as Gajarla Ravi (alias Uday) and Aruna (alias Venkata Chaitanya), both linked to CPI (Maoists).
TL;DR
More Maoists may be hiding nearby, combing operations ongoing
Police say the encounter started after a tip-off about Maoist movement—when officers approached, they came under fire, leading to an exchange that left three rebels dead.
AK-47 rifles were recovered from the site.
Combing operations are still ongoing since intelligence suggests more Maoists may be hiding nearby.
This is seen as a major blow to local Maoist leadership.
