The JEE entrance exam is the ultimate test for any engineering aspirant in India, since clearing the two-level exam is vital for getting admission to top-notch engineering schools, including the coveted IITs. However, a major dilemma among test-takers is whether or not they should go for formal, classroom coaching. Although coaching can help, regular and thorough self-study can also suffice. Here are some tips to help crack JEE exam without coaching.
Prepare a strict study schedule; Maintain notes while studying
Scheduling: Prepare a timetable that suits your needs, and more importantly, stick to it- day in and day out. This will help provide a set path to your preparation. Do take regular breaks as well. Note-making: Don't skip maintaining notes. It'll help you grasp complex formulae and concepts better. Further, they'll come handy at the time of revision, and will save you time.
Allot plenty of time to revision
It is advisable to allot at least 2 months exclusively for revision. This will help you retain everything that you've learned all this while, for the final test day, and will also help calm down your nerves.
Regularly practise mock tests and past years' papers
Mock tests: Take online mock tests to understand the various nuances of the computer-based JEE exam. Additionally, it'll help brush off the nervousness, and boost up your confidence for the D-day. Past years' papers: To get the best idea about the exam pattern, difficulty level, question framing, and time distribution, start analyzing and solving past years' question papers.
Do not forget the rest and relaxation part
Many aspirants tend to take their health for granted, which ultimately takes a toll on their preparation. So, make sure to get your daily dose of sound sleep. Eat well. Take naps, when needed. Also, try relaxing activities like listening to music, walking, meditation etc.
