TN CM appoints judge to probe stampede at Vijay event

A tragic stampede at a TVK chief Vijay event in Karur, Tamil Nadu, left 40 people dead and many injured on Saturday.
In response, Chief Minister MK Stalin has appointed retired High Court judge Aruna Jagadeesan to investigate what went wrong.
She visited the hospital to check on the injured and said the injured are "fine" and "getting very good treatment."

Actor Vijay also steps in with financial help

To support those affected, the state government announced ₹10 lakh compensation for each victim's family and ₹1 lakh for the injured. Actor Vijay also stepped in with additional financial help.
Emergency teams have been deployed, hospitals are adding extra beds, and a help desk is up to assist families—officials say every effort is being made to prevent further tragedy.
