Twelve fertilizer ships to reach Indian ports ahead of kharif

Good news for Indian farmers: fertilizer shipments that were delayed due to the West Asia crisis are finally set to arrive.
In about 7-10 days, 12 ships carrying 3.3 lt of urea and 2.57 lt of DAP may reach Indian ports, helping boost supplies just in time for the busy kharif season.

India's fertilizer stock has jumped to 196.65 lakh tons (lt) as of June 14, which is sufficient to meet this year's crops.
Since March, imports and local production have kept shelves full.
Plus, sales of organic manure have shot up compared to last year, showing a gradual shift in farmers' preference from chemical fertilizers to organic alternatives.
