    Two TN tourists drown while clicking selfies near Goa beaches

    Two tourists from Tamil Nadu drowned in separate incidents while clicking selfies in the Arabian Sea near beaches in Goa. In the first incident, three of eight tourists, who visited North Goa's Baga beach, went to a rocky stretch in the waters and started clicking selfies. A strong wave hit them and one of the three persons drowned, Calangute police inspector Jivba Dalvi said.

    Two persons managed to swim to safety, third drowned

    In the Baga beach incident, two members managed to swim to safety while the third person drowned, Dalvi said, adding the body was fished out later. The deceased was identified as Dinesh Kumar Ranganathan (28) from Vellore in Tamil Nadu.

    How did the second TN tourist drown?

    In a second incident, four tourists from Tamil Nadu went to enjoy at a rocky patch in the waters at Siquerim beach in Goa yesterday morning. As they were clicking pictures on their phones while sitting on rocks, one of them got swept away in the strong sea waves and drowned, Dalvi said. The deceased was identified as Sasikumar Vasan (33).

    Government issued advisory to refrain from swimming near beaches

    Goa government last month issued advisory asking tourists to refrain from swimming in sea waters for four months starting from June 1. It also shuts down beaches for swimming and other water sports activities during the monsoon.
