Odisha Police took down two Maoist insurgents—Manku and Chandan—in Kandhamal district on Monday morning.
Acting on a tip-off about suspicious activity near Baliguda's protected forest, the District Voluntary Force (DVF) moved in quickly and neutralized the threat.
Stash of weapons recovered from site
After the encounter, police found a stash of weapons and communication gear at the site, including a rifle, revolvers, cartridges, walkie-talkies, and batteries.
Odisha's top cop Y B Khurania praised the local team for their fast response.
Security has now been tightened in the area as part of ongoing efforts to tackle Maoist activity in Odisha.
