Two Rajasthan children die in Gujarat after Chandipura virus diagnosis

Two children from Rajasthan have died after testing positive for the Chandipura virus while being treated in Gujarat, leading health officials to boost checks in Dungarpur, Sirohi, and Udaipur.

The virus mainly affects children under 15 and spreads through sandfly bites.

It causes high fever, vomiting, seizures, and altered consciousness; most cases pop up during the monsoon.

Health teams screen 75 households

Local health teams have screened 75 households for new cases, but have not found any more infections so far.

Officials are running fogging drives and awareness campaigns to keep things under control.

As of July 24, there have been nine deaths from this virus: seven in Gujarat and two in Rajasthan.
