Uber, Rapido booked for breaking Maharashtra's bike taxi rules
India
Maharashtra's Transport Department has filed FIRs against Uber and Rapido after a passenger died in Mulund while using a bike taxi on 29th November.
Both companies were only allowed to run e-bikes, but officials found they were using regular motorcycles and private vehicles too—without proper approval.
What else happened?
Authorities say Uber and Rapido also ran unregistered vehicles and skipped key safety steps, like the divider required for female passengers.
On top of that, both firms got show-cause notices for not following the approved fare structure.
These moves are part of Maharashtra's efforts to enforce compliance with bike taxi regulations, as the state pushes companies to stick to the rules they agreed to.
