UP brothers kill father over land dispute

India

In Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh, a family argument over land took a tragic turn when two brothers, Virendra and Vimlesh, allegedly killed their 60-year-old father, Durga Prasad.
He had refused to transfer property rights to them, wanting instead to give the land to his daughter-in-law.
The incident happened on November 7 in the Karari area.

Brothers on the run

Police say the brothers attacked their father with sticks, leaving him critically injured—he later died at the hospital.
Their elder brother Gyan tried to step in but was also hurt and is now being treated in Prayagraj.
Based on a complaint from Prasad's wife, police have filed a murder case against Virendra and Vimlesh, who are currently on the run as authorities search for them.
The investigation is ongoing.
