UP cop arrested after woman he was investigating found murdered

A sub-inspector in Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur district, Ankit Yadav, has been arrested for allegedly murdering Kiran, a 30-year-old woman he met while handling her dowry harassment case.
Her body was found on November 13, 2024, sparking a murder investigation.

How police cracked the case

CCTV footage of a suspicious car led investigators to Devendra Kumar, who said Yadav borrowed his vehicle on November 12.
When questioned, Yadav confessed he took Kiran toward Muskara, where they argued and he killed her with an iron rod before hiding her body in a pit.
He told police that Kiran had been causing him mental distress.
