UP cuts highway speed limits as dense fog causes deadly crashes

India

After a series of tragic fog-related accidents in Uttar Pradesh—including a pile-up on the Yamuna Expressway that claimed 13 lives—officials are introducing new safety precautions.
In total, 25 people died on Tuesday across several districts, all due to poor visibility.

What's changing on the roads?

A proposal has been made to drop speed limits on expressways from 120km/h to 80km/h during foggy weather until February 15.
UPEIDA is handing out safety pamphlets, using public address systems for live updates, and asking bikers to pause at toll plazas for their own safety.
Meanwhile, NHAI teams are adding reflective tapes and checking road lights so everyone can see better and travel safer.
