Man beat wife as one-year-old child sat nearby

The woman is a native of Shahjahanpur and has a one-year-old child with the Lakhimpur-based salesman. He had been telling her to ask her parents for money, but she had refused. On Thursday, he started thrashing her with a belt as their child sat nearby. He then sent the clip to her brother, who approached police. The family then brought their daughter home.

FIR lodged against husband, relatives, but accused absconding

The accused, who is absconding, and his relatives have been charged under Section 498A (cruelty) and other relevant sections of IPC and the Dowry Prohibition Act. But no arrests have been made yet. "The woman was also sent for a mandatory medical examination and we are waiting its report to add charges in the FIR," said Circle Officer Sumit Shukla.
