UP: Mentally challenged minor girl raped, found pregnant

In Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh, a mentally challenged minor girl was allegedly raped several times by a man named Shri Ram.
On November 16, he reportedly lured her near a college outside her village and threatened to kill her if she spoke up.
The abuse only came to light when doctors discovered she was pregnant during a medical checkup.

What's happening now?

After the girl's mother filed a complaint on November 19, police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and POCSO Act.
Station House Officer Umesh Kumar Singh shared that police are actively searching for Shri Ram, and efforts are being made to arrest the accused.
