UP: Student kills father over scolding, stages suicide call
In Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, a Class 11 student allegedly shot and killed his father, Tasveer Singh, after being upset over repeated scolding and a beating the day before.
With help from two classmates, he staged a fake suicide call to lure his father to the farmland, where the shooting happened on September 20.
What's happening now
Singh died at the hospital from his injuries. Police first filed a case against unknown attackers but soon traced the phone used for the fake call back to Singh's son.
Two classmates have been arrested and admitted their roles in making the call; all three are from the same school.
The main accused—the son—is still missing. Police are also looking into how he got hold of the gun.
As Circle Officer Stuti Singh put it, "We will probe the matter and find out from where he got the gun after we arrest him."
