What's the story

US Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard has reached India on her Indo-Pacific tour. She will attend a major conference chaired by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The meeting's main agenda will be to strengthen intelligence-sharing systems to fight terrorism and transnational crimes. Earlier on X, Gabbard said she wants "to build strong relationships and open lines of communication."

Global cooperation

Meeting to feature intelligence heads from multiple nations

The conference will be hosted in New Delhi and is likely to see intelligence heads from several partner countries, including Australia, Germany, and New Zealand. The main aim is to strengthen global security cooperation. On her India visit, Gabbard will likely meet intelligence chiefs of Quad nations Australia and Japan and key G7 countries. Her visit follows PM Narendra Modi's visit to the US in February, where he met her.

Diplomatic relations

Gabbard expresses commitment to strengthening India-US ties

PM Modi, during his US visit, praised Gabbard as a staunch supporter of India-US ties. Gabbard thanked him for the opportunity to welcome Modi and reiterated her commitment to further strengthening ties between the two countries. India and the US have been steadily deepening their ties, especially in the Indo-Pacific, where they have mutual concerns about stability and security.
