India
Uttarakhand got hit with some serious rain today, pushing the Alaknanda river at Rudraprayag at its danger level of 627 meters and continuing to rise, while the Mandakini River exceeded its danger mark of 626 meters by 0.20 meters.
Because of this, schools in Dehradun, Chamoli, and Bageshwar are closed for now.
The IMD has put out an orange alert for these areas to keep everyone on their toes.
Landslides block Badrinath and Gangotri highways
Nonstop rain has also caused landslides and blocked major highways like Badrinath and Gangotri.
Authorities were directed to use loudspeakers to alert people living near the rivers and are telling everyone, locals and tourists, to avoid unnecessary travel until things calm down.
Stay safe and keep an eye out for updates!
