'Vande Mataram' anniversary celebrations kick off, says Dharmendra Pradhan

India

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan says "Vande Mataram," written back in 1875, is just as relevant for India today.
At the Sat Paul Mittal National Awards in Ludhiana, he shared that the government has kicked off a year-long celebration for the song's 150th anniversary to spark patriotism and unity.

'Vande Mataram' is a symbol of national pride: Pradhan

Pradhan described "Vande Mataram" as a powerful symbol from India's freedom struggle that still inspires national pride.
First published in the literary journal Bangadarshan, it was later featured in the novel Anandamath, and became an anthem during the independence movement.
He also pointed out how the National Education Policy is encouraging learning in both regional and global languages to help shape future leaders.
