West Bengal: 23-year-old medical student gang-raped near college

A 23-year-old MBBS student from Odisha was allegedly gang-raped by three men near her private medical college in Durgapur, West Bengal, on Friday night.
She had stepped out with a male friend to get dinner when the attackers snatched her phone, her friend left her alone as the attackers arrived, and she was dragged into a forested area behind the hospital.

Friend under scanner, NCW demands report

The survivor is currently receiving treatment. Police have arrested three suspects and are questioning her male friend.
Investigators are checking CCTV footage. The National Commission for Women has demanded a report, while the victim's father is seeking to move her back to Odisha for safety.
State officials have promised strict action as protests call for faster justice in such cases.
