West Bengal sets DA, DR at 38% from October 1
West Bengal just announced a big jump in dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) for state government employees, pensioners, family pensioners, teaching and non-teaching staff of government-aided educational institutions, and employees of statutory bodies, government undertakings, panchayats, municipalities, municipal corporations and other local bodies, now set at 38% from October 1.
This includes the additional 20% point increase in DA announced in the Budget, and the move comes right ahead of Durga Puja, making festival prep a little easier for many.
West Bengal advances October salaries
This hike covers state government staff, pensioners, family pensioners, and both teaching and non-teaching staff at government-aided schools. Local body employees are included too.
To make sure everyone gets their boosted pay in time for the festivities, October salaries will be paid out early.
Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari also said he's working on bringing West Bengal's DA closer to central government levels with upcoming pay reforms, though he admits it'll take some time.
