Gurugram issues work-from-home advisory for offices, online classes for schools
What's the story
The Gurugram district administration has issued a work-from-home advisory for offices and online classes for schools on Tuesday. The decision comes after heavy rainfall on Monday caused severe waterlogging in several parts of the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had initially issued an orange alert for Gurugram and Faridabad, which was later downgraded to a yellow alert for the entire Delhi-NCR region.

The district administration said Gurugram received 70mm of rainfall till 1:30pm on Monday.
Key areas affected include Rajiv Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, Railway Road, Sector 5, Old Delhi Road, and Mehrauli Road.
The heavy downpour resulted in water levels rising from ankle- to knee-deep on several roads.
Major congestion was reported around NH-48 and IFFCO Chowk, among others.

The downpour also led to waterlogging in affected areas such as Sector 10 near Euro International School, South City-1 and Tulip Chowk.
The Delhi-Jaipur Expressway was also affected, with traffic crawling despite the road being wide enough for vehicles to travel at near-speed limit.
Videos of motorists abandoning their vehicles on flooded roads have also been shared widely on social media platforms.

DDMA issues advisory
The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) advised all corporate offices and government/private schools to guide employees/students to work/study from home.
The advisory was issued to avoid traffic congestion and ensure smooth repair works by civic agencies.
The decision comes after heavy rainfall on Monday caused severe waterlogging in several parts of the city, disrupting normal life.
