    What's the story

Reality TV stars and the husband-wife duo of Terry and Heather Dubrow published a book titled The Dubrow Diet, which first introduced the Dubrow Diet plan to the world.

The Dubrow Diet plan is all about the consumption of low-carb food, intermittent fasting and eating certain food items according to set guidelines.

Here's all you need to know about the Dubrow Diet.

    Details

The Dubrow Diet is divided into three phases

The Dubrow Diet comprises three phases.

In the first phase, you are required to fast for 16 hours and restrict your food intake period to 8 hours daily.

This phase should be followed for 2-5 days at the beginning of the plan.

The first phase restricts the consumption of food items to lean proteins, healthy fats, non-starchy vegetables, fruits, dairy products.

    Phases

The second and third phase of the Dubrow Diet

Like the first phase, the second phase also involves a fasting period of 12-16 hours, until the time you reach your goals.

Next, in the third and final phase, you need to start fasting for 16 hours per day twice a week and for 12 hours during the remaining five days of the week.

Occasional cheat days are permitted during second and third phases.

    Weight loss

And, does it really work for weight loss?

The key highlight of the Dubrow Diet is intermittent fasting.

Research suggests that intermittent fasting for 3-12 weeks can result in 8% loss in body weight.

Further, this diet plan lays emphasis on healthy foods, rich in (good) carbohydrates and protein, that are known to promote weight loss.

These food items can help increase metabolism and satiate hunger, thus reducing belly fat.

    Other benefits

Other health benefits of the Dubrow Diet

Apart from weight loss, intermittent fasting can also help reduce inflammation and prevent risk of chronic diseases.

Further, combined with the consumption of low-carb foods, it can help control blood sugar levels in the body and increase the body's ability to use insulin.

The Dubrow Diet is also known to to help improve brain function and slow down signs of brain aging.

    Failure

Some potential downsides of the Dubrow Diet

According to critics, the Dubrow Diet may not necessarily work for everyone.

In fact, many people may find difficulty in fasting or following a set diet plan.

It can also have certain side-effects like fatigue, weakness, changes in mood, and lack of focus.

Also, people with eating disorders or those suffering from Type 1 diabetes or low blood pressure should avoid this diet plan.
