What's the story
Chaos ensued at Andheri station when under-19 cricketer Harpeet Singh drove his car onto Platform 1 amid the morning rush. Singh mistakenly turned towards the ramp leading to the platform. He managed to stop it near the tracks. He was detained and the vehicle confiscated. This is the second such incident at Andheri in recent times. Check out what else is happening in Mumbai.

Drone spotted 18,000ft above Mumbai Airport
The pilot of a New Delhi-bound IndiGo flight spotted a red drone at a height of 18,000 feet on the Western Express Highway in Mumbai, seconds after taking off from runway 9, at around 2:30pm on February 19. The pilot alerted the Air Traffic Control, who informed the police stations at Juhu, Santacruz, Vakola and Vile Parle.

Kurla tense after Mother Mary statue found desecrated
Tension gripped in Kurla after a Mother Mary statue in Christian Gaon was found vandalized, allegedly by three bike-borne men. A local said a cross was damaged too. Residents in the mostly-Christian locality assembled with banners and shut shops in protest. Some, including a pregnant woman, were allegedly made to sit in police vans for protesting. Police are trying to obtain CCTV footage.
Bhiwandi
Major fire at Bhiwandi factory kills four
Four workers were killed and several injured when a major fire erupted in a plastic factory at Dapoda in Bhiwandi. The blaze started when a worker dropped a gaslight, setting some equipment afire. It took firefighters over three hours to get the situation under control. The building allegedly had no proper emergency exits. A case of negligence has been lodged against the owners.

2,000 detained in 'peventive action' ahead of BMC polls
Mumbai Police have detained about 2,000 criminals in a preventive measure ahead of the BMC elections. Special cells in all 93 police stations have been keeping a check on movements of suspicious criminals since two weeks. Action can be taken against such offenders as precautionary measures during elections under 13 sections of the law, including 107, 110 and 151.
Amravati
319 farmer suicides in Amravati in three months
Amravati has witnessed 319 farmer suicides since November, despite a good produce. 89 of them have been attributed to agrarian crisis, 113 to other reasons, and the rest are still under investigation. In 2016, suicide rates dropped by almost eight per cent. However, all five districts in Amravati - Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Washim and Yavatmal - have been declared suicide-prone, with Yavatmal topping the list.

Mumbai among world's top-100 student-friendly cities
Mumbai has been ranked 85 in the world's top-100 student-friendly cities in a survey by Quacquarelli Symonds. According to respondents, affordable education, wide range of courses, a lively extracurricular scene, lucrative job prospects, safety, and the city's cosmopolitan vibe make it a top choice even for international students. It ranked 30 on affordability, 40 on employer activity and 90 on desirability.
