  • With the implementation of GST, Octroi duties will be scrapped, which means those working in the Octroi department will lose their jobs.

    The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is planning to re-accommodate these staffers in other departments like audit, assessment and control and general administration.

    According to an official, the BMC will either take examinations or reshuffle people.

  • Unable to bring an end to the cutting of trees in different parts of Mumbai for the Metro-3 project, two residents climbed a peepal tree, sanctioned to be felled at Churchgate.

    The protesters were taken to the Marine Drive Police Station for the same and were released after providing their contact details.

    According to South Mumbaiites, altogether 40 people protested between Saturday and Wednesday.

  • Mumbai will soon have Air-conditioned (AC) local trains as the railways decided to manufacture them under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project-III.

    A.K Mittal, Chairman of the Railway Board cleared the file of procurement of 47 AC local trains.

    A formal letter of the same will be issued to Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC).

    Sources claim the tenders for it would be floated by July.

    Shagina Qureshi, the accused, is suspected of being a Bangladeshi national linked to an interstate child trafficking gang.

    The Manickpur Police were able to catch the lady after being tipped-off by a social worker named Anita Pawar.

  • The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on 24th May rejected Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) application to build a floating jetty on Marine Drive.

    MTDC's plan was to build the jetty to give way to a 135-metre-long luxury liner which would be anchored off the coast.

    The permission was denied as Marine Drive is a heritage site on which no temporary construction is allowed.
