8 opposition MPs suspended for throwing papers at LS Chair
What's the story
The Lok Sabha has suspended eight opposition members for "creating a ruckus" during proceedings, which involved tearing up papers and throwing them toward the Chair. The decision was taken after Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju moved a resolution against them. The suspended members include Congress MPs Manickam Tagore, Hibi Eden, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Gurjeet Aujla, Kiran Reddy, S. Venkataraman, Prashant Padole, and Dean Kuriakose.
Adjournment details
Lok Sabha adjourned for the day
After the suspension of the eight MPs, the Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day. The House will now resume its proceedings on Wednesday at 11:00am. The adjournment came after a day of heated exchanges over an unpublished memoir by former army chief MM Naravane, which Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had sought to quote during his speech, against the House rules. Additionally, the adjournment was influenced by broader opposition protests concerning the India-US trade deal and other issues.

Reacting to the suspension, Congress MPs, including Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other MPs, staged a protest at Makar Dwar of the Parliament. "This is ridiculous. In a democracy, every member should have the right to speak and their concerns should be heard," Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said.
