'Ask your grandmother about RSS...': Minister Giriraj's swipe at Rahul
Union Minister Giriraj Singh took a jab at Rahul Gandhi on Monday, suggesting that if there were a way to communicate with the deceased, Rahul should ask his grandmother, Indira Gandhi, about the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) role. Singh's remark came hours after Rahul's statement in the United States, in which the Leader of Opposition said that while the RSS believes India is a single idea, his party views India as a collection of multiple ideas.
Singh accuses Gandhi of misunderstanding RSS
Singh claimed that Rahul is unaware of the time when his grandmother, Indira, was engaged in a critical battle against Pakistan. Singh said, "If there is any technology to communicate with those who have passed, Rahul should ask his grandmother about the role of the RSS during that time, or he can look it up in the pages of history."
Singh criticizes Gandhi's remarks
The Union Minister also alleged that it would take several lifetimes for Gandhi to understand the RSS. The minister added that those who criticize India abroad cannot truly understand the organization. Singh further said, "It seems Rahul Gandhi goes abroad only to tarnish the country's image. The RSS was born from India's culture and traditions."
What Gandhi said in his US address
Gandhi, while addressing the Indian diaspora in Dallas, United States, said that the RSS believes India is one idea. "We believe that everybody should be allowed to participate, allowed to dream and should be given space regardless of their caste, language, religion, tradition or history," he added. He also claimed that since the Lok Sabha election results were announced earlier this year, fear of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party has faded among people.
