Modiji doesn't respect RSS' views anymore, claims Priyanka Gandhi

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday saying he no longer respects the views of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), the ideological mentor of BJP. Priyanka made the remarks after RSS issued a clarification on its chief Mohan Bhagwat's opinion about reservation. She said if RSS believes in sorting out differences with dialog, why doesn't PM Modi.

How it started
Bhagwat spoke about reservation, his words sparked a row

The latest war of words sparked after Bhagwat said on Sunday that there should be a conversation in "harmonious atmosphere" between those who oppose reservation and those who support it. His opinion led to a row, with parties like Congress and BSP slamming BJP and RSS. Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala claimed Bhagwat's remarks had exposed "anti-Dalit and backward" face of BJP/RSS.

Clarification
Subsequently, RSS called it needless controversy, said it supports quota

At the center of a controversy, Sangh issued a clarification defending Bhagwat. RSS' prachar pramukh (publicity head) Arun Kumar in a tweet said his organization has time and again maintained it supports quota. "He merely stressed on the importance of addressing issues in society through mutual talks in harmony and called for considering a sensitive issue like reservation in a similar manner," Kumar said.

Does PM believe everything is fine in J&K, asked Priyanka

After RSS' statement, Priyanka quickly jumped into the opportunity to slam PM Modi. About the prevailing condition in Kashmir, she wrote that RSS has declared all issues can be resolved in a cordial manner. "I suppose either Modiji and his government no longer respect the RSS's views or they don't believe that there is an "issue" in Jammu and Kashmir. Interesting, (sic)" she added.

So the RSS has declared in a tweet that all “issues in the society” should be resolved through cordial dialogue?
I suppose either Modiji and his government no longer respect the RSS’s views or they don’t believe that there is an “issue” in Jammu and Kashmir. Interesting....

Stand
Congress believes no one can change J&K's status

Pertinently, Congress' stand on the abrogation of Article 370's provisions is in stark contrast with the Centre's. Opposing the move of PM Modi's government, Congress earlier said, "Jammu & Kashmir acceded to India as one State and no government has the power to change its status or divide it or reduce any part of it to a Union Territory."

Dissent
However, in blow to Congress, its own leaders supported BJP

However, not everyone in Congress agrees with the party's opinion on the sensitive issue. After leaders like Jyotiraditya Scindia, Jaiveer Shergill, and Janardan Dwivedi openly sided with BJP, two-time Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday claimed that Congress has "lost its way". Hooda said he would never compromise on patriotism while congratulating the government for scrapping the contentious Article 370.
