Live Updates on the Vote Counting for the 2026 Assembly Elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala

In a shattering defeat, Tamil Nadu CM Stalin has lost his Kolathur bastion to TVK’s Babu by nearly 8,000 votes. This highlights a major shift in the state's power dynamics as actor-turned-politician Vijay’s TVK emerges as the single largest party, dismantling Dravidian parties' stronghold.

In West Bengal, the BJP-led NDA has effectively demolished the TMC, taking a lead in 190 seats and winning six more. CM Banerjee-led party is ahead in only 89 constituencies, and has won in two others.

In Assam, the NDA has won 53 seats, and is leading on 46 more, while the Congress has a lead in 22 constituencies and bagged one.

Vijay’s TVK has emerged as Tamil Nadu's single-largest party, leading on 92 seats and winning 11 constituencies. However, it is still short of the 118-seat majority mark required to form a government and needs allies to bridge the gap.

Reportedly, the Congress (leading on four seats; bagged one seat) has already sent feelers, with Vijay’s father suggesting the TVK was ready for a power-sharing agreement with the grand old party. It may also need the support of other smaller parties or independents to reach the halfway mark.

After 10/22 rounds of vote counting, Vijay is currently leading in Tamil Nadu’s Perambur with a margin of over 23,000 votes against DMK leader RD Shekar. The TVK leader is also ahead of his DMK rival, S Inigo Irudayaraj, in Tiruchirappalli (East) by nearly 14,000 votes after 11/22 rounds.

In a major shock, Tamil Nadu CM Stalin is still trailing TVK’s “giant killer” Babu in his bastion of Kolathur by over 7,700 votes, per the ECI.
His counterparts in other poll-bound states, however, are standing strong: Banerjee is leading over the BJP's Adhikari by nearly 7,200 votes in Bhabanipur, while Vijayan is ahead by over 11,800 votes in Dharmadam. Assam's BJP CM Sarma currently has a massive lead of over 63,000 votes in Jalukbari, while CM Rangasamy has been declared the winner of Puducherry's Thattanchavady.

In the high-octane West Bengal elections, the BJP-led NDA is leading in 192 of 293 seats, while the TMC is languishing with a lead in just 96 seats. Meanwhile, the Congress and Left parties remain marginal players, leading in only one and two seats, respectively.

As for Tamil Nadu, actor-turned-politician Vijay's TVK is ahead of its Dravidian rivals in 108 seats, and has also been declared the winner in two constituencies. The ruling DMK alliance is leading in 61 seats and has won in one constituency, while the AIADMK-NDA is ahead in 62 seats.

In Puducherry, the AINRC-led NDA has won 12 sets and is leading in four more, reaching the halfway mark. The Congress-led alliance is ahead in eight constituencies and has also clinched two seats.

The Congress-led UDF has taken the lead on 80 seats and has also been declared the winner in 18 other constituencies. The ruling LDF has bagged 10 seats, and is leading on 26 seats, while the BJP-led NDA is leading in just two places.

In Assam, the BJP-led NDA is leading on 77 seats and has won in 20 constituencies as of 2:15pm. The Congress is ahead in 27 seats, while others are leading in two seats.

Reports of violence emerged from the counting center at Asansol Engineering College in West Bengal. Vehicles were targeted, and chairs were destroyed during a scuffle, following which additional security forces were rushed to the scene to restore order.

A massive saffron wave is crushing the TMC in West Bengal, as early trends show the BJP inching closer to the 200-seat mark, with the ruling TMC as a distant second, struggling to reach the 100-seat threshold. As of 1:30pm, the BJP-led NDA is leading on 192 of the 293 seats for which votes are being counted. The TMC, however, is far behind with a lead in 96 constituencies.

West Bengal CM Banerjee accused the BJP of orchestrating a plan to show artificial early leads, alleging that central forces and the ECI are actively working together to "steal votes" and suppress the truth of the TMC's leads. She even claimed that counting has been deliberately halted in multiple locations, telling party supporters that the TMC will emerge victorious "after sunset."

The ECI has officially declared AINRC founder and Puducherry CM Rangasamy the winner in the Thattanchavady constituency; he secured 10,024 votes, finishing with a comfortable victory margin of 4,441. Trailing him was NMK candidate E Vinayagam with 5,583 votes.

Also, the BJP's A Namassivayam has bagged the Mannadipet seat, according to the election body.
