Lok Sabha adjourned again over Rahul's Indo-China border conflict remarks
What's the story
The Lok Sabha was adjourned until 3:00pm after Rahul Gandhi once again took up the unpublished memoir of former Army chief MM Naravane on the 2017 Doklam standoff with China. "Today. On the world stage, the main issue in international affairs is the conflict between China and the US. All I am saying is let me make a statement about what happened between China and India and how our PM reacted to it. Why am I being stopped?" he asked.

Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2:00pm earlier
BJP MPs objected to Gandhi speaking on this issue. Before that, the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2:00pm as opposition members protested over the alleged demolition drive at Varanasi's Manikarnika Ghat. The protests had started earlier in the day when the House was first adjourned till noon over a United States-India trade deal announced by President Donald Trump. Samajwadi Party MPs then raised slogans against the ghat redevelopment, calling it an insult to Ahilyabai Holkar, who renovated it in 1791.

'Surrender Modi': Opposition MPs raise slogans
Despite Speaker Om Birla's efforts to maintain order and pay tribute to Surupsing Hirya Naik, opposition members continued their protests. Birla had sought silence for an obituary reference to Naik, a former Lok Sabha member and Maharashtra Legislative Assembly member. After observing a minute's silence, members shouted slogans such as "Surrender Modi."

Birla adjourns proceedings for nearly an hour
Birla later adjourned proceedings for nearly an hour, questioning the planned disruptions. He noted that such actions disrupt the Question Hour, which is meant for holding the government accountable. Only one question could be taken up during this time. Congress MP KC Venugopal had earlier filed an adjournment motion notice to discuss the India-US Trade Agreement. He stressed that "the country has the right to know the exact terms and conditions of the proposed trade deal."
