AI can now handle nearly half of all work tasks
A fresh study from Anthropic shows AI can handle at least 25% of the work in 49% of jobs, a big jump from last year's numbers (2025).
Researchers looked at over 2 million chats with Claude, Anthropic's AI model, to see just how much tech is reshaping work.
Tech's biggest impact on jobs
If you're into programming, heads up: the study observed AI covering roughly 75% of programming tasks in its usage data.
Customer service, data entry, finance, and marketing roles are also seeing high exposure.
Coding-related tasks made up a huge chunk of both consumer and business API use.
AI's role in the job market
Despite all this automation potential, unemployment hasn't spiked in these fields to date (as of March 2026).
The source does not report specific hiring changes for young workers aged 22 to 25.
Interestingly, more than half of people using AI are teaming up with it to get things done, not just handing off the work entirely.
