Android now lets you share live video in emergencies

Technology

Google just rolled out Emergency Live Video for Android—so if you ever call or text emergency services, you can instantly stream live video to dispatchers.
The idea is to give responders a real-time look at what's happening, making it easier for them to help fast.
This feature launched on December 10, 2025.

Quick, secure, and easy to use

When you make an emergency call or text, if the dispatcher requests it, your phone will ask if you want to share live video—no setup needed, just a tap and you're connected.
Everything is encrypted by default for privacy.
It works on Android devices with version 8 or higher (and Google Play Services), in the US and select regions of Germany and Mexico—with plans to expand worldwide soon.
Emergency Live Video joins other safety features like Emergency Location Service, Car Crash Detection, Fall Detection, and Satellite SOS to boost your phone's emergency toolkit.
