Fireball lit up skies over Europe; ESA investigating incident
Technology
On March 8, a super-bright fireball streaked across the evening skies of Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. People spotted it moving fast with a glowing trail before it broke apart.
Definitely not your average night!
The European Space Agency (ESA) is now looking into what happened.
ESA working on early warning systems to spot space rocks
ESA says it was likely a small meteoroid hitting Earth's atmosphere at high speed and lighting up for an unusual six seconds.
Some fragments might have even landed on a house in Koblenz-Guls, Germany; authorities say there have been no reports of injuries.
Events like this aren't rare, but ESA is working on better early warning systems (like its Flyeye telescope) to spot space rocks sooner next time.
