GitHub introduces AI coding assistants Claude Code and Codex
GitHub just rolled out two smart coding agents—Claude Code from Anthropic and Codex from OpenAI.
If you're on Copilot Pro+ or Enterprise, you can try them now on GitHub, GitHub Mobile, or VS Code.
Their main job? Automating tasks like sorting out issues and pull requests through a new Agent HQ feature.
Claude Code vs Codex
Claude Code is all about careful thinking—it asks questions, explains its choices, and writes code that's easy to follow (with a 92% accuracy score).
Codex is the speedy one; it cranks out working code fast but doesn't spend much time explaining (scoring 90.2%).
Basically: Claude aims for clarity, Codex goes for speed.
Future plans for these coding agents
Codex can juggle lots of tasks at once thanks to its cloud setup, while Claude lets you tweak more settings if you want things your way.
GitHub says these tools will soon reach even more users—and might team up with partners like Google and xAI down the road.
