Google Keep starts integrating with Tasks: What changes for you?
What's the story
Google is slowly rolling out the integration of Google Keep with Google Tasks, following last month's announcement. The company had previously hinted at a "second half of 2025" timeline for this transition. Once the update reaches your device, you'll see a prompt saying "Reminders are now Google Tasks." This new feature will help users manage their reminders more efficiently by directly linking them to their tasks in Google Tasks.
Functionality
Reminder integration: How it works
When you click on the bell icon at the top right corner of a note, the reminder will be saved directly into Google Tasks. The blue icon of this service appears at the top of the sheet, indicating that your reminder has been successfully saved as a task. The options for setting reminders remain unchanged from before, including Tomorrow morning/evening/next week, and Pick a date & time with repeat intervals.
Changes
Location-based reminders and task appearance
The integration does not support location-based reminders as Google Tasks does not offer this feature. Any existing location data will be placed in the task description instead. Once set, reminders will show up in both the Google Tasks app and Google Calendar grid with a "From Keep" label. Tapping on this badge opens the note for quick access, making it easier to manage your tasks and notes simultaneously.
Updates
Google Keep's 'Reminders' page and notification changes
Google Keep retains the "Reminders" page (list/grid view) accessible from the navigation drawer. If you delete a reminder inside Keep, Google will ask if you want to remove both the task reminder and note, or just the latter. However, it is worth noting that the Google Keep app won't send notifications for any set reminders anymore. Those alerts will now be handled by Calendar/Tasks, so make sure those applications are installed for timely updates on your tasks.
