Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA and GitHub launch ARD for AI agents
Big names like Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and GitHub just launched Agentic Resource Discovery (ARD), a fresh way for AI systems to find and check out tools, skills, and capabilities across different platforms.
Instead of being stuck with limited resources, AI agents can now explore more options seamlessly.
ARD organizes catalogs in secure registries
ARD uses secure registries to organize "catalog" files so agents can quickly access what they need.
There are some security worries (if a domain gets hacked, important info could be at risk), but ARD may improve discovery and verification, but it does not eliminate the need for ordinary security controls.
GitHub Copilot, Hugging Face adopt ARD
GitHub's Copilot now taps into ARD to discover new tools on the fly. Hugging Face is also on board, connecting agents to thousands of resources.
The spec is open source under Apache 2.0 at agenticresourcediscovery.org, making it easier for everyone to share and build smarter AI together.
