Google Search live now lets you chat in real time
Google just made Search Live way more interactive—you can now have real-time voice conversations with it.
Thanks to the new Gemini 2.5 Flash Native Audio 12-25 model, you get to control how fast or slow it talks, and even tweak its tone and style.
Search Live was first tested in Labs starting June 2025, launched nationwide in September 2025, and the new voice control features are rolling out to everyone in the US on both iOS and Android in December 2025.
What's cool about it?
You can keep the conversation going without stopping for each question, use your camera for visual searches, and see web links right on your screen that show where answers come from.
The tech behind this—real-time prosody and enunciation—makes everything sound smoother.
Developers can also try these tools out through Google AI Studio and Vertex AI.
How does it stack up against others?
Unlike most voice chatbots, Google Search Live pulls info straight from the web with live citations, supports camera input for visuals, and responds super quickly—all in one place.
That makes it a pretty unique tool if you want answers you can actually check yourself.
