iPhone 11 Pro Max v/s Galaxy Note 10+: A comparison

The newly launched iPhone 11 Pro Max arrives as Apple's most advanced iPhone till date. The flagship phone, with a bit of a mouthful name, offers the "most powerful processor ever on a phone", upgraded cameras, and improved battery life. But is it enough for Apple's offering to beat the Galaxy Note 10+, Samsung's best smartphone to date? Let's find out.

Design
At a glance

The Note 10+ sports a center-positioned punch-hole display with curved edges, a redesigned unibody S Pen, and a polished glass back that offers iridescent shimmer. The iPhone Pro Max features a sizeable display notch, a metal frame, and matte-finished glass back which houses an unaesthetic camera module. And like the Samsung flagship, it is also IP68-rated. Winner: Note 10+ for its overall better design.

Display
All about the screen

Surely, both handsets offer really bright and sharp displays. The Note 10+ has a massive 6.8-inch display with a QHD+ (1440x3040 pixels) resolution, HDR10+ and Dynamic Tone Mapping. In comparison, the iPhone 11 Pro Max gets a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with full-HD+ (1242x2688 pixels) resolution, HDR and Dolby Vision support. Winner: Note 10+ for its higher screen-to-body ratio and sharper display.

Primary camera
For the shutterbugs

The Note 10+ comes with a quad-lens setup comprising a 12MP (f/1.5-2.4) main lens, a 16MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide-angle lens, a 12MP (f/2.1) telephoto lens, and a 3D DepthVision sensor. The iPhone 11 Pro Max comes with a triple camera system featuring a 12MP (f/1.8) wide-angle lens, a 12MP (f/2.4) telephoto lens, and a 12MP (f/2.0) ultra-wide-angle lens. Winner: Note 10+ for its superior optics.

Information
For the selfie lovers

On the front, the Galaxy Note 10+ comes with a single 10MP (f/2.2) selfie snapper. In contrast, the iPhone 11 Pro Max houses a 12MP (f/2.2) front-facing camera and supports 1080p slo-mo video at 120fps. Winner: iPhone 11 Pro Max for better hardware and features.

Internals
Under the hood

The Galaxy Note 10+ is powered by a Snapdragon 855/Exynos 9825 chipset, paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB/512GB of UFS 3.0 storage (expandable upto 1TB). There's also a new vapor chamber cooling system for thermal management. The Apple flagship has an A13 Bionic chipset, with presumably 6GB RAM, and upto 512GB of storage. Winner: Note 10+ for its higher RAM and thermal management tech.

Nitty-gritty
Battery and biometric authentication

The Note 10+ packs a 4,300mAh battery with 45W fast-charging and two-way wireless-charging support whereas the iPhone 11 Pro Max offers a 3,500mAh battery with 18W wired-charging and lacks reverse wireless-charging. Samsung's neatly packed and smarter S Pen is also a bonus. For biometrics, the iPhone offers improved Face ID while Note 10+ has an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint reader. Winner: Note 10+.

Information
Pricing: The key factor

The Note 10+ costs Rs. 79,999 for the 256GB storage model and Rs. 89,999 for the top-tier 512GBGB variant. In comparison, the iPhone 11 Pro Max starts at Rs. 1,09,900 for the entry-level 64GB model and goes upto Rs. 1,41,900 for the top-end 512GB variant.

Our verdict
How things stack up?

The iPhone 11 Pro Max might be a premium handset with flagship-grade performance and high-quality cameras but for its astronomical pricing, it misses out on a lot of essentials expected from a modern-day flagship. There's just 18W fast-charging, no reverse wireless-charging, no built-in thermal management, no QHD+ resolution, and the same three-year-old design. Our Verdict: Buy the Note 10+ and save some money.
