iPhone 16 Pros arrive with bigger screens, A18 Pro chipset
Apple has revealed its latest premium smartphones, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max at the "It's Glowtime" event. They feature a 'Camera Capture' button similar to a DSLR's shutter button. They also boast larger displays, slimmer bezels, the advanced A18 Pro chipset and Apple Intelligence. The 16 Pro is priced at ₹1,19,900 for the 128GB model, while the 16 Pro Max starts at ₹1,44,900 for its 256GB variant. The devices will be available for pre-order starting Friday.
Design and color options
The design of the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max mirrors their predecessors but they are taller and wider due to larger displays. The display size for the iPhone 16 Pro has increased from 6.1-inch to 6.3-inch, while the Pro Max now features a massive 6.9-inch screen. Apple has introduced a new 'Desert Titanium' color for this series, replacing last year's Blue Titanium variant.
A look at the cameras
The iPhone 16 Pro models are equipped with a new A18 Pro Bionic processor, which is 15% faster than its predecessor. They also feature a triple rear camera setup with a 48MP primary Fusion lens, a 12MP telephoto snapper with 5x zoom, and another 48MP ultra-wide lens. A 12MP front-facing camera handles selfies. The new 'Camera Control' button allows users to seamlessly switch between all three cameras.
Audio hardware and battery life
Apple is touting superior audio hardware on the iPhone 16 Pro, that includes four "studio quality" mics. Users will also be able to capture spatial audio while recording spatial videos. In an upcoming update to Voice Memos later this year, users shall be able to layer a track over a recording. This will be useful to those recording music. As for battery life, 16 Pro and Pro Max will offer up to 27, 33 hours of video playback respectively.
