Last supermoon of 2025 lights up the sky with a halo
Technology
Thursday night's final supermoon of the year put on a show, including in the UK.
The moon looked extra big and bright as it reached its closest point to Earth, making it a perfect moment for anyone who loves snapping sky photos.
Halo hints at changing weather
Alongside the supermoon, early risers in southern England spotted a glowing ring—called a 22-degree halo—around the moon.
This cool effect happens when moonlight passes through icy clouds and is often said to mean "rain real soon."
Sure enough, it signaled rain and strong winds rolling into much of the UK.
