Meet Aman Jain, Meta's new public policy chief in India
What's the story
Meta has announced the appointment of Aman Jain as its new head of Public Policy in India. He will take over from Shivnath Thukral, who left the company in June to join PhonePe. Jain's appointment comes at a time when the Indian government is working on a series of tech and artificial intelligence (AI) regulations.
Leadership position
Jain's role and responsibilities at Meta
Jain will join Meta early next year and report to Simon Milner, Vice President of Policy for Asia Pacific (APAC). In his new role, he will lead Meta's policy strategy and engagements in India. He will also be part of the firm's India leadership team. Jain comes to Meta after his role as Director of Public Policy at Amazon, where he led policy strategy across various sectors for the Indian market.
Career journey
Jain's extensive experience in public policy
Before his time at Amazon, Jain spent over seven years at Google in various roles. He has also served as an advisor to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for a year between 2013 and 2014. His extensive experience in public policy and technology is expected to help Meta become a more effective partner to regulators and industry stakeholders in developing an enabling policy environment.

Meta's strategic focus on India
India is the biggest market for Meta's family of apps, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, with a combined user base of over a billion monthly users. The country is also a key market for Meta's future growth plans, especially its AI initiatives.
