Meta takes legal action against AI 'Nudify' app Crush AI
Meta (the company behind Facebook and Instagram) is suing Joy Timeline HK Limited, the creators of the "nudify" app Crush AI, for repeatedly running unauthorized ads on its platforms. Even after Meta took down these ads for breaking its rules, Crush AI kept popping up using new accounts and domains.
Meta has removed thousands of Crush AI ads
To tackle this, Meta says it has removed thousands of Crush AI ads and shut down four networks pushing similar content. They've also upgraded their tech to catch sneaky ads faster—expanding what they flag, including certain terms and emojis.
Meta is also working with Lantern program
Beyond just blocking bad ads, Meta's also working with the Tech Coalition's Lantern program to help fight online child exploitation by sharing data with other tech companies. This lawsuit shows Meta wants to make its platforms safer for everyone.
